Hi ,
Thanks so much for clicking on this email. 💖
Let’s talk challenges. Have you ever done one?
In December 2022 I started my first 100-day challenge. 📆 🤩
My business/life coach Amee suggested I do this.
I liked the idea as I often see myself as lacking discipline (consistency) so I thought this would be a perfect way of proving myself wrong. 🙌

Now when Amee mentioned the challenge, she wanted me to choose something like posting on Insta stories. She wanted me to focus on the thing that I needed to do but was avoiding.
Instead, I chose a goal I felt I could complete & something I wanted to do for a while, but just hadn’t prioritised it - 100 days of walking. 🏃♀️🌈✨
In order to succeed I had to
1. Breakdown the task Put on my shoes, get down stairs and walk to the end of the block as a minimum. 👟
2. Define what success looked like This wasn’t an activity around weight loss. So I wasn’t going to push or guilt myself to do more than my usual 10-15 min circuit. ⏱️
3. Identify my barriers I’m quite good at procrastinating so success depended on me walking first thing in the morning. ☀️
I was really impressed when I got up on
Christmas morning, New Year’s Day & also my birthday to go for a walk. I cleared 100 days and kept on going. I still walk most days. 🥳
What I learnt during this time was that some habits take more than 30 days to develop - for me the habit of daily walking took about 120 days.
I also learnt that 100 day challenges are something that I enjoyed. So I also did the following fairly easily - 100 days of
✨ Posting on IG stories ✨ Not biting my nails ✨
Being fearless & not second guessing myself
BUT the one I couldn’t do - the one that I completely overestimated & found too hard was 30 minutes of switching off each day. This could be driving or going for a walk without any audio or just sitting - with no phone, tv or audio. 🚫📲 😳
I found it really hard to do on the days that I wasn’t driving or walking.
& sitting with with no phone, tv or audio for 30 minutes felt impossible. I was so unmotivated to have a go. 😒
I’m going to try again - but not right now. & when I do it will be less time - like sitting quietly with no inputs for 5 minutes instead of 30. Much easier & more doable. Easy to fit into the day. & something I’m not going to hate. ❤️

So if you haven’t tried a 100 challenge, definitely give it a go.
It’s great proof that you can do something consistently. 🙌
& nothing builds confidence like proof.
& when you do, make it small, easy to measure & easy to achieve. 🏆🎊
Something that will make your life better or easier for doing so.
Something that you can look back and be proud of. 😍
& something that adds a great habit into your week.
If you’ve found this useful - please forward this onto a friend who needs proof that they can be consistent. 💖
And as always, send me an email or DM @thespeechielife_ to let me know what you're going to try for 100 days, I would love to know!
Have an amazing day!
Your Speechie Cheerleader,
Ish
