Hi ,
Thanks so much for clicking on this email. 💖
How are you going?
We are in the middle of the silly season. 🤪 🎄🤸♀️
Does life may seem a little nuts right now?
I bet you are trying to wrap up work for the year but the requests and ‘to do’s’ keep coming in.
& you are trying to socialise and enjoy all the fun connections but it’s leaving you exhausted. 🥱
You may be feeling like ‘I just need to hang on’ or ‘I need to do things differently next year!’.

So firstly know - this feeling. It’s completely normal. We are all feeling it. The exhaustion of 2023 is real and it’s harder to keep it together as you get to the finish line. 🏃♀️But know there are 5 things you can do to make the next few weeks better.
- Push everything into 2024 🗓️
If it’s not urgent and
important. If it can wait (even a little bit) - push it into 2024. You will complete it faster and with more ease when you are feeling fresh and rested.
- Leave the planning and year in review ✍️
I know it’s all over socials. The year in review. Planning 2024 goals.
Just know that whether you do it now, completely exhausted or leave it till January/February, it won’t really make a difference. It’s ok to wait, start the new year and then reflect. Ideally out in the sunshine, with a beverage, after a good nights sleep.
- Communicate as much as you can 📣
Everyone is exhausted and mistakes will happen.
There will be miscommunication. So take the time to be clear, write things down if you have to. This could be appointment dates for your clients. It can be reservations for a catch-up.
Don’t depend on your memory or someone’s else's memory - make it easy as you can. Avoid email as much as you can. Either text it, print it out or write a note. You can thank me later.
- Unplug 🔌
It’s going to be super tempting to work into the evenings and on the weekend to just
‘clear the backlog’.
Please don’t.
Need a reason why - check out points 1, 2 and 3. Instead, give yourself permission to breathe, relax, switch off and to enjoy the quiet. Take a bath, journal, read a book, watch Christmas movies or whatever brings down your heart rate and increases your happiness.
- Be present 🤗
We spend SO much of our time multitasking or furiously switching from one task to the next. Instead, slow down, be fully present.
This means really enjoy the last session of the year with your kiddos and families. Be present and check in with
yourself when you wake up in the morning. Put your phone and distractions away when you are spending time with the people you love.
Being present is only a gift you can give yourself and when the silly season is in full swing, going against the grain - slowing down, being present and calm can feel amazing.

Thankfully this season only comes once year. I don’t think we could survive if it came more often! 🫠
Know though, that even if you only do 1 of these, your next few weeks will feel so much calmer and joyful. Do all 5 and people will be asking you what your secret is. 🤩
If you’ve found this useful - please forward this onto a friend who needs more ease in their day.
And as always, send me an email or DM @thespeechielife_ to let me know how this email has helped you, I would love to know! 💖
Have an amazing day!
Your Speechie Cheerleader,
Ish
