Hi ,
Thanks so much for clicking on this email. 💛
I donβt know if you know this about me but I am a procrastinator.
I know you might be wondering really?!
But sadly yesβ¦like Olympic Champion level. 🥇
I was also the one at Uni to leave assignments to the last minute. I always crammed for assessments.
As a therapist, I always struggled with getting reports done. Always took piles of work home on Friday only to never take anything out of my bag and to have all the work waiting for Monday along with feeling BAD about not getting it done. 🙈
What a mess! Can you relate? 🤷ββοΈ

So even now, I have to work really hard NOT to procrastinate.
BUT now I have a few strategies that work for me.
You have to know yourself and why you procrastinate. For me, itβs if the task feels too big or there are hurdles that I have to get over to finish the job (hate that).
So sit down and reflect
βοΈ
- When do you procrastinate? E.g. writing a report
- Why do you procrastinate? E.g. I stare at a blank page and donβt know what to write or the templates I
have arenβt easy to use
Then you create a system that gets around your tendency to procrastinate.
For me, thatβs intentionally having very little time to get stuff done which means I am super productive (which I love) and I feel successful (which I love) so thatβs how I work best. 🎯
What does that look like in reality?
👉 I donβt beat myself up about writing a report, think about it for 1.5 weeks and dread the task.
👉 Instead, I know exactly when it is due and I start writing it 3 days before. That gives me a hard deadline but enough time to get it done, edited and emailed.
So for you - once you know when and why you procrastinate - create a system that gets around it. This might mean you;
- Create a better template
- Find an easier way to do the task (e.g. automation and technology)
- Pay someone else to do it for you (e.g. cleaning)
- Give yourself less time to do it in
- Get someone to help you

So instead of fighting your procrastination - get curious and make it work for you.
If youβve found this useful - please forward this to a friend who is struggling with procrastination.
And as always - send me an email or DM @thespeechielife_Β Β and let me know why you procrastinate. I would love to know 💖
