Letβs talk about switching off. Not just βswitching offβ but actually calming our mind and our
nervous system. 🧘ββοΈ 🛁
I think this is something thatβs become waaaayyy harder now than it has ever been.
Itβs not as simple as picking up a hobby or exercising more.
Itβs actually about stopping the inputs. Itβs about giving your mind nothing to take in,
interpret and process. 🚫
Just like we switch off an appliance, we need to be able to switch off our brain. 🤯

& switching
off at this level is a skill & like all skills it has to be practised. 💪
& even though I bang on about life work balance, self care & downtime- switching off for me is SO DAMN HARD! 😫
Is that the same for you?
On this trip to Tokyo, I found myself sitting in a bath tub 🛀, surrounded by bubbles, with not a single item in my hand or around me. No device to scroll or watch or listen to. No book. Just me, in water relaxing & switching
off.Β Β
Just being in the moment. Letting my mind roam. Not being bored.
I canβt remember the last time I did that. Itβs definitely longer than 10 years.
How long has it been for you? When was the last time you truly stopped all the inputs? 👩β💻 📱📚🎧 🚫
We are so good at being occupied 100% of our time - for me itβs Paul, family, friends, work, hobbies, Netflix & doom scrolling.

So Iβm going to practise switching off the inputs into my day and week, This will allow my body to experience calm, my mind to roam free & my nervous system to reset.
😌
For me this will look like;Β
β¨ 2 walks / week minimum without my phone - no input other than nature and everyone around me 🚶ββοΈ🍃
β¨ an alarm daily to remind me to just sit for 5 mins with nothing in my hand & let my mind wander β° 🧘ββοΈ
β¨ 2 x week driving in silence & just watching the world zoom by 🚘Β Β
What will it look like for you?
These are small steps but with practise, I know they will make a huge difference.
