I don’t know about you but I have lots of things that I struggle with. 🤦‍♀️

There are parts of my personality that really get in the way. 😭

I have a lot of traits that are really great. But equally, there are traits that just aren’t the best and hold me back. 🤷‍♀️

But do you know what I have learnt to do with these?

I have learnt to lean into them. 💥

No point fighting it. I’m not investing hours in changing them. 🙅‍♀️

How did I do this?

  1. I learnt to understand myself more

  1. I unpacked this with my coaches and trusted inner circle

  1. I then practised making it work for me


Let me give you an example...I am hopeless with time. It’s a Samarakoon family trait. We run late. Usually from 5-20mins. ALWAYS. 🙃


So rather than fighting this with my work, I play into it.

🎯 I know that being a mobile therapist would not be a good idea for me. So I have a clinic space instead.

🎯 I know that if I don’t have urgency, my sessions run over, so I have sessions back to back.

🎯 I know that I need time to unpack issues with a family, work with the kiddos and time to recap so I only do 1-hour sessions.


I also am not an early riser. Well, I am - kind of. What I mean is it takes me a long time to get my engine running. So 7am webinars or 8.30 am / 9 am sessions are not ok.


👉 So my first client in the clinic is at 10 am.

👉 My first meeting of the morning can only be at 9 am and it needs to be on zoom.

👉 All face-to-face meetings have to be after 9.30 am.

When I had 9 am starts, fighting morning traffic and running late into the clinic - life sucked. 😭😭😭

Now it doesn’t.



Making these changes took;


  1. Time

  1. Lots of conversations

  1. Disappointing people

  1. Accepting myself


So if you are feeling that a particular trait is getting in the way.

  1. STOP and talk to your trusted people or talk to me by booking in a chat or sending me a DM

  1. Lean into this trait and embrace it

  1. Work out a way to make it work for you
