Hi ,
Thanks so much for clicking on this
email. 💖
With January already behind us (how did that happen?!) you may be feeling that life-work balance is harder to achieve than ever. 😭
You are not the only one.
Before you start dreaming about your next holiday or wishing that itβs the weekend, try these 5 tips to help you smash your to-do list, learn to switch off & have a life outside of work. 🥳
Tip #1 Donβt just work through your to do list - organise it. Highlight all the urgent and important tasks and get those done. Everything else can wait! 🙌
Tip #2 With all those non-urgent or unimportant tasks - can you get someone else to do them? Can it be automated? Even better, can you get rid of them? Itβs not lazy to cull your workload or get rid of tasks that are taking up your time but not moving you forward. 💯
Tip #3 Embrace technology. This might be templates, speech to text, text expander or tools for scheduling and organising. You can also create automations between platforms using Zapier. If you are doing the same task over and over again, ask yourself βis there a piece of tech I could be using to do this for me?β 💻
Tip #4 Remind yourself - itβs not about you. Itβs easy to get stuck focusing on ourselves, spiralling on the negative. Instead practise just focusing on your client, their caregiver, your supervisor or your employer. What do they need? How can you deliver this? By focusing on others, itβs far easier to know whatβs needed and to deliver just that. When we focus on ourselves and everything that we need to change, fix or is not ok we get really stuck, procrastinate or over work to prove we are worthy. 🥲
Tip #5 Switching off is a skill that takes practise and discipline. So having a βgo toβ activity that you can do to switch off is a must. For me, itβs doing puzzles by Wasjig. I tend to get fully immersed and lose track of time. For you it might be watching reality tv, taking a bath, cross-stitching, going for a run or being at the beach. Learn what your βgo toβ switching off activities are and do them often. 😍

Here is an additional tip 💡
Be aware of your social media use because it could be affecting your life-work balance more than you realise. Often we get scrolling, we land on so many great therapy idea videos and posts and we end up down the βworkβ rabbit hole before we know it.
If this is you (and I know itβs definitely me) either limit your social media use (I do this by putting my phone away when I get home at night)Β OR create a separate social media account where you follow βtherapyβ inspo but only look at it during set hours. 📱
